Another exciting development in CueBlocks is the launch of Jobs Chirp.

This application comes completely from our experience of dealing with different HR tools. With Jobs Chirp, we want to make hiring and applying for jobs easy.

The application:

1. Lets you create a simple 140 character long (inspired from twitter) job description / professional qualification or CV

2. Lets you add a link to the details job description / CV

3. Lets you choose a location / geographical area where you want the job / CV to be visible

4. Lets you search for jobs / CVs in a particular geographical location

5. Lets you subscribe to the search results so that you don’t miss on to the newly added jobs / CVs or profiles that match your requirements

6. Lets you contact the job profile / CV chirp owner by show of interest.

And it’s all free. We wanted to make it simple and easy for companies to post jobs and prospects to post their desired job profile. how you describe your job and qualification in 140 characters is up to you.

In our personal experience, 140 characters helps you list only what you are good at and highlights the key skills. If you want details, just give a link!

If you have ideas on how we can improve this further, need help with the application or want to get your hands on the application itself – contact CueBlocks

This year has been one of the most exciting years for CueBlocks.

After CueForms (create forms for free!), we launched GeoChirp, a mashup. A simple but extremely useful application that:

1. Lets you see tweets in a specific geographic location

2. Lets you search for keywords in a particular location

3. Lets you create Groups out of search results  (all tweets + location for a particular search term / keyword saved under “Keyword” group)

4. Lets you create Groups our of people you follow (My Clients | Friends | Office | Tech | Sports …)

5. Lets you subscribe to feeds for particular search terms

6. Lets you tweet!

We received a lot of feedback from all over the world which has been a great motivation. Not only did we get feedback on how great the application is, but also feedback on how we can further improve it and also examples of how different businesses and people are using our application!

If you are not already using GeoChirp to drive business, you are missing on to a huge opportunity. Want to know how you can use this for your business, feel free to contact us!

Thinking on a treadmill

June 17th, 2009 by Avneet

I hate doing cardio. I find it extremely boring. My trainer tried to encourage me by saying I should get some music, watch tv while running… but I just am not able to get myself to enjoy it.

I can’t last more than 3 minutes on the treadmill – every second starts to feel like a minute!

This reminded me of Russell Peter’s piece on Indians playing a sport. We are usually made out to be unfit – and I think we are. Then I saw squirrels in front running about with ease on top of a fence. It is so easy for them and for so many animals! If we had to run about looking for food and move around for shelter, we would be fit, wouldn’t we? So did years and years of comfort make us unfit?

If Indians are the most unfit, clearly, we invented civilization. :D

3 Little guests

With the boys in US and my mom in London, managing office and home has been quite an interesting experience.

Although I have been on my own before, this experience has by far been the most amusing.

For example, the day Sarthak & Pancham left, his car’s oil chamber broke. I was still in the process of talking to insurance people, his auto service shop etc, when Pancham’s car decided on give up in the middle of the road.

As if this wasn’t enough, the fridge at home stopped working.

After a few days, I realized I had literally asked for this. I mean, suddenly from no car I had 3 cars to choose from and for a whole week I was wondering how I will take care of all the cars, where will I park them blah blah… and well, I never had the problem of parking!

And when Mom had left, I was complaining about how much food there was in the fridge and that it will get spoiled – I was so sure it will get spoiled… and most of it did. :S

Things settled down and I went about taking care of the long list of chores by mom left for me. One day I started thinking how I wish I had a dog… would that be too much to take care of? Probably yes. What animal is not very difficult to have as a pet… I don’t really want a pet, who’ll take care of it??

I have never before looked up at the sky and said “Are you kidding me?” before – but a week ago, that is exactly what I did when I saw 3 little kittens in my backyard.

I’ve been quite careful since then about what I wish for. Not that I wasn’t earlier.. but so many “in my face” situations have happened that I’m convinced beyond doubt that I better be careful!

[c][u][e] – On My Own

Since the day we started CueBlocks, this is probably the first time three of us are working from different corners of the world.

I’m here, managing the physical office in Chandigarh alone for the first time. While I’m enjoying the experience and am learning so much, I miss the boys!

These are exciting times for CueBlocks as we are shifting orbits and expanding our horizons. The trip couldn’t have come at a better time and it definitely wouldn’t have been possible without the wonderful team we have at [c][u][e] Blocks!

I’m really excited about the coming second half of the year and can’t wait to jump right in! :)

Spanish for weekend..

So I’m learning Spanish and all thanks to my enthusiastic friend and fellow learner, Sim, we have an exam on Monday.

This is not the first test and I’m just glad we don’t have to look into the camera and speak (been through that embarrassment already thanks to my camera loving teacher!) or worse sing!

But I am a bit sad because I’m staying back in Chandigarh to prepare for the test instead of going to Delhi to spend the weekend with my sister!

So while our teacher will be enjoying paragliding over the weekend, I’ll be sitting locked up in my house learning people, animal, places and things in spanish and gerundios!

SEO for good please!

Why are so many of us obsessed with showing off the skills than actually using them for good?

“Miserable Failure” still haunts the US Presidency in Yahoo.

Here’s where I heard it – http://www.brafton.com/industry-news/poor-seo-makes-obama–miserable-failure–$1263281.htm

Barrack’s Message

It was a delight to hear him speak. I think he is the most popular political figure on Earth. I sat up to watch him speak and was feeling so happy he was the President – and I am not even a US citizen! I want to feel this happy with my own country’s leaders. I love India and I know we can be everything we desire to be. We need the right leaders. It is obviously not enough to have a good PM, but we need the whole team to be a more ambition one – a set of leaders who think big, look at the bigger picture and not focus on their own personal agendas.

I think USA is what it is not because of one single person, but because of every one of them. There is this free spirit in all of them that is so contagious. They don’t think they are the leading country, but they believe they are, act like they are, and hence, are.
